Subwoofer Install Starting Next Week!

Ok so original I was going to use just a basic setup of 2 12" subwoofers with basic power then I decided that I would instead use 2 10" square kicker subwoofers which can handle more power.

I have now decided I will instead go all out and use a high power 15" subwoofer and amplifier, I really don't need the hatch space in my sonic so I am going to try and build a really nice sub setup and amp rack. I will post more updates as the build progresses.

My install is about 90% done, just a couple odds and ends and what not.

Ok so after a long week the install is finally complete. I am running an Orion Hcca 15" subwoofer that is running an RE XTX5000.1 amp (2500 RMS). For those who don't know this is a very powerful sub especially for this little car.

The woofer is not small by any means so The spare tire compartment and second trunk are taken up for sufficient air displacement. The amp is in a hanging style rack and a red neon was added to match the red woofer.

I would like to thank the guys from California Audio for making a great setup that produces massive bass and still provides trunk space.

If you're using the Tapatalk App it tends to turn down resolution on pics so maybe try uploading them from your comp?

I actually took out my spare so I could put in that 15". Maybe too much power for this little car but I had it lying around so I figured why not.

Yea the 2 12s are nice. Did you have the 15 fiberglassed in or just a sealed box?

No I did not use fiberglass as I am not a big fan of that myself. Pic of setup is located above your original post.

Set up looks nice, just wish you were utilizing that HCCA to its potential Sealed boxes are not of their favorites. RE is a pretty decent amp though, good to see people using a little outside the normal stuff like myself...

This sub was used as a competition sub in my SUV, it was used to full potential with a vented box and a more powerful amp then. However since then it has been retired from competitions and is only used for normal day to day bass, that's why it was chosen to go into my sonic. Had a Kicker Solo X 18 that is also retired but decided that was a little too heavy/much bass for these little cars.

Regardless of the box I refuse to use shallow mounts. So the Orion was my go to.

what was your suv hitting spl wise? ever metered this or a guestimate?

I used mainly one or two speaker systems than walls, and It was around the 147.2 range at my last metering. But was told I might be in the low 150s towards the end of my last build but never got it metered because I lost interest in the sport. Sadly.
