I'm sure someone else has already thought of this, but I've long been annoyed at the way most forums on the internet exclude three letter word searches. Annoyed, but not enough to actually think about the problem.
Recently in another thread here, someone was complaining, as many of us do, about how they couldn't find something since the word they were looking for was a three letter one... and it hit me.
Looking for threads on oil is not allowed by the forum engine? Aha, but there's a handy four letter word we Can search for:
s
p
o
i
l
e
r
" oil"
Or if you prefer, "oil ".
Or if you're CDO (it's like OCD, only in alphabetical order like it SHOULD be) " oil "
Worked like a charm.
Soon, someone will tell me this workaround has been well known for decades and was used in the original Babbage engine. But until then, I'll bask in the feeling that I personally have saved the internet!
