The M32 Martyr
TurboTechRacing allowed me to test their very first production Solid Trans Mount for the Sonic, and I was honored to do it. First let me say that the mount is beautiful.
The install was insanely easy!! Up, installed, and back on the ground in 13 minutes flat, and 5 of those minutes were just getting my hardly functional lowered Sonic jacked up.
Tools needed:
18mm wrench or socket
Jack
Jackstand
Once the car was lifted from behind the front driver wheel, I supported the Transmission with the jackstand. Note: just supported, I never took the weight off of the jack. please use caution when working under you car while it's in the air, if you are not confident in you capacity for safety, hire a professional.
Next, loosen and remove the bolt that holds the stock mount to the transaxle. Then loosen and remove the bolt that holds the mount in the frame. The stock mount will twist and come right out.
Next install the new mount in opposite order. I found that it was best to start the frame bolt and then the trans bolt. Torque'em down tight, remove the jack lower the car and that's it!!!
Review: The moment you were waiting for. The STM absolutely reduced the vibration issue from the SUM (solid upper mount)!!!!!
I was worried I wouldn't be able to notice because as I've repeated many times, my vibes haven't been very bad. But even my vibrations were noticeably less, just as TTR had suggested.
I took it for a couple test miles and could feel slightly crisper shifting and all around tightness in the drivetrain. I will give an updated review after I clock some real mileage on it, but for the price TTR is offering it at, I see this becoming must mod for performance seekers.
Once again..... Thanks TTR, for allowing me to test this mount and for staying tuned into what SOF members are looking for.
