Using The Bluetooth's "Voice" Command

I love the idea of the voice command feature, especially on my iPhone 4S with Siri because I can check the weather, send text messages without touching the phone, call stored numbers not stored in my car, etc. But, there's a problem. Sometimes it works well enough to get a reply from Siri, but most of the time before the phone can reply the car ends the conversation.

Here's an example of a typical failure:

I push the phone button and say "Voice" after the tone. The car says "OK, accessing iPhone." The phone activates Siri and the tone sounds, so I say "Send a text message." Before Siri can reply the car disconnects and says "Call ended."

Here's an example of it almost working properly:

I push the phone button and say "Voice" after the tone. The car says "OK, accessing iPhone." The phone activates Siri and the tone sounds, so I say "Will it rain tonight." Siri looks up the weather and replies with "It does not look like rain tonight." Then, before Siri's speak tone can sound again the car disconnects and says "Call ended."

The car should not end the "call" before the end button is pressed so that you can navigate the phone's voice menu or in the case of the iPhone 4S, Siri. I can see where the problem lies in the communication between the phone and the car, the car thinks a call has been made and ended by the other party, but there's no way to fix it other than a software update either to the phone or the Bluetooth system in the car.

Does anyone have the map to the bluetooth menus? For example, when I say call using phone, she says say a name or number. I've tried names but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas on how to get that working?

I know you can do bluetooth - voice- access phone - then speak, but that's a little lengthy.

Onstar gave me a long list . I will see if the wifie still has it . I will see if I can digitalize it . Or you can get it from Onstar

Andrew, I'm experiencing the same thing. My example is sending a text. It'll read it back to me and ask if I want to send it. Just about the same time I'm saying "yes" the car disconnects. It does send, but just barely.

Second example: creating an appointment. When I created one, I wanted to cancel right after, as a test. My iPhone screen was still on the Siri prompt. I could just not get the car to reconnect to Siri until I actually left that screen, then it worked. Not sure why.

This is almost there, but not quite yet. I saw an article in another thread that said Apple has partnered with Chevy to bring eyes free Siri, so it may get even better. I'm hoping a press and hold of the phone button on the steering wheel for direct Siri access. And hopefully we can get it through a firmware update and it won't just be on new models going forward.
