Weird electrical issues

My Sonic is going on 6 years old and recently been having unexplainable issues. The dealer doesn't get an error code so we aren't able to pin point the problem and fix it.

Some of the issues are:
The door open light comes on when no doors are open and the locks won't work with the remote or manually with the button in the car. I can only get in with the key. I drive along for a bit and the light turns off, locks go up and down by them selves and are back to normal for a bit. The alarm goes off when I try to lock it once I've parked.

It has also locked itself without being on or in gear.

The interior ceiling light flickers on and off. This is a new problem as of this week.

Mylink screen has a delay coming on.


Has anyone had similar issues and know what could be causing this to happen?

Do you have any aftermarket electro like subs or lighting or anything of the likes? Or is it bone stock?

I have no aftermarket electronics, only what came with the car when I ordered it from the factory.

Not knowing much in detail but since all this stuff is controlled by a computer, did you try removing complete power to the vehicle. Disconnect both terminals and let it sit for a while. Sometimes computers have temporary memory stored which needs to be dumped.

The battery was replaced on Thursday. I don't know if that was long enough to reset things, but it was the only error code the dealer received so we replaced it.

Just thinking about this, it almost seems like a connector that has some corrosion being so intermittent, try doing the wiggle test, start at the EU and go to the fuse box, grab the main harness and just move it... engine side first due to the easy access to it.

You might also want to check the door close sensor (not the technical term) and wiring to the door. Some of the symptoms you mentioned are also things that happen when the door is either open or closed and maybe the ECU thinks your door is open when it's not (flickering lights, door locks not functioning as expected, alarm sounding even though door is physically closed). Just a thought. I had a Jeep that the door wiring from bending so many times started to go and I could not lock, and instrument panel would flash at random times and interior lights would stay on draining than battery and other random things like the windows stopped going up and down.

Do both key fobs cause the same problem or only one? When my key went bad, the door locks went wonky like that and the car wouldn't start. The key was corroded inside. If you washed the key in the washing machine by accident (it happens) that could do it....

I've had some ghost electrical issues as well. Right now my door open chime doesn't work. I tried resetting to factory defaults through the MyLink control but it didn't change the situation.

Door switches and their connections come to mind as something to start with.
