Weird stain on oil pan

Hello everybody! So last Sunday I finally got around to changing my oil. And I noticed something a bit strange. There was this orange "stain" It was like, well kind of like dried spaghetti sauce. Dried orange spaghetti sauce. Actually I don't know how to describe how it was but it was dried on there, it was orange, and I could get some on my finger. Here's a picture. I also heard a strange grinding noise coming from the front of the car while I was revving it like an idiot for fun one night. Haven't heard it since though. Anyway, anybody know what this orange stuff is Or how it might have gotten there.

Orange is coolant.

In my isolated case orange is transmission dye as they are trying to find a transmission leak on my trans.. but the entire trans is covered in orange dye ..no idea how they can possible find the leak now.

Hmm, my transmission has some orange stuff on it too, from the front but I think it might just be oil in my case. I tried to wipe it off but it's dried on there. So about the coolant though, any idea how it might have gotten there? I remember reading that the water pump goes out in these cars, but I cannot seem to remember what thread it was.

Yeah, I know. That's why I transitioned back to the coolant stuff.
