Windshield Wiper Grabbing

Does anyone have problems with the passanger side wiper grabbing? Sometimes it grabs so bad that the wiper will fly off. They used to fly off anyway with the factory wiper size. They used to be 26" & 15" but the only way I could get them to work is with a 24" & 14", because they would hit each other and both fly off. Should I go to the dealership see if it's a defect? My friend has a 2012 Sonic and doesn't have the problem I have.

I would run it by the dealership, 26 & 15, is what it calls for. I just replaced mine yesterday, with no clearance problems whatsoever, and flying off, definitely indicates something is wrong. Has this happened with different brands? Are you using the correct adapters? If you're out of warranty, you might want to go to an Autozone, or any good auto parts store, most of them will install your wipers for you when you buy them, if there's a problem, they will spot it. I would say dealership would be the last stop, if your'e reaching for your wallet.

It should still be in warranty. Dealer put wipers on before and they flew off as I was on my way home. I've tried a couple different brands but had the same result.

Undo the passenger wiper (15mm bolt) and reposition is ccw a few degrees. They hit at the top of their travel ?

I understand what you mean about moving it, but I do not understand what you're asking about the top of their travel. Unless you're asking where they stop, the passanger side is right below the windshield seal and when running, stops about 6 to the left of the rearview mirror.

Sorry, I was on my mobile phone...hard to type.
I mean, you can pull the passenger side wiper off (wiggle it, pull upwards... gentle tap with hammer if necessary..GENTLE)...
At rest the passenger side wiper (the left side of the wiper as you're facing it from the hood) should be almost touching the A-pillar...
I'd go to an autoparts store and make sure I have the right size blades. If your's are too big they'll touch at some point...they should never touch at any point in the operation.

Is that clearer ?

Yes. With the factory wiper size, they clip each other, that's why I went down a few sizes. I was at O'Reilley's whenever I told them what happened, but they were no help.

I'll stop my my local dealership and have them fix it. It's been a defect since day 1 and once they put their wiper on it, they clip immediately. They should fix whatever the problem is.

Mine wipers were hitting right at the beginning of travel. I unbolted the driver side wiper and moved up a little. No more contact. 5 minute fix.
