The Headlight Rings Pop-Off

well, im assuming if they are a GM part, that you'll have to remove the front bumper to screw in the new bezels/rings...no?

edit: just like how you take the stock rings off without breaking the lower tab, that's screwed into the headlights housing, by taking off the front bumper. or am i missing something. lol

If you snap off the bottom portion there is no need to pull the bumper to get to that one screw.

this is true, if you plan on putting the same broken ring back on. but if you plan on putting a new ring in its place, you'll have to remove that screw, or else it will be in the way of the new tab. unless you break off the new tab on the new ring. lol

That's how I would do it, Mine have not budged since I put them back on with the broken bottom tab.

there are several "snap in" tabs if you don't break too many of those the rings will stay in just fine. You just gotta take your time and do it "the right way" if you don't wanna pull the bumper to get to a few freaking tiny screws.

i will be doing it the extra long way, and mask it off while still on the car. then plasti-dip them, then paint them.

well, its such a small piece. figured if it didn't work, i'd then rip them off and use a thinner to get it off. was also planning on using adhesive promoter after the plasti-dip cured...

I've tried just painting the chrome plastic around the bowties, and the paint was cracking right as it started to dry...maybe I'll give it another go at it, without plasti-dip....

Basically once you use dip only use a dip product on top of it or it won't peel off and it won't cure.

If you order a new ring, you might as well pop the bumer off to easily access the black housing which holds the rings. You do not need to take the entire headlight out. The black shroud is held on w 4 screws which have easy access in the front if the bumper is removed.

If you buy new, and take the Tmo way, yes you'd have to break the screw tab off shorter than the originals so the broken part wouldnt interfear with the new ring.

I have pics of the ring by themselves, unbroken if that helps. I just painted them with enamal paint and they are holding up great.

What kinds of paint and proceedures do you use when painting the pieces that are chrome?

I prep with soapy water then rubbing alcohol, let it dry then plastip. Don't scuff it up with dip just clean and spray.

In Europe we have mat black headlight cover, you americans had glossy black cover. I want this glossy cover so much.
Anybody here knows part number of that gloosy cover.
European mat covers :95048783-left, 95048784-right.
