I need to get at least 10 people committed to make tooling even worth while. Was thinking of doing a pre-order thread in the classified selling area to find out if others besides you are seriously interested. People always "say" they want one but need to have 10 confirmed.

I only charged him $100 for the install, he ordered all the parts and shipped direct to me. Entire set cost around $750 including headlamps.

What would be the price per unit if you had ten people committed? Would that price decrease if you had more people on board? Depending on price, I'd lay out $$ for a "commitment" deposit.

Also, for those who require it, what could be done to accommodate the front license plate? I'd love to not have one because it looks so much cleaner, but you know how the laws are...

Easy fix there. Drill a couple holes in the stock license plate box. Zip tie through those holes to the grill ribs. Mount plate.

Id have to get some more accurate numbers from work on monday but my initial calculations ended up around the 275-300 range. The silicon for tooling alone for parts of that size were over $1500. I'll see if I can get some sample material for casting next week as well. Ill keep this thread updated as soon as I get some firm quotes from my vendor.

If that price is correct I was thinking whoever was interested in the first batch deposit 50% of a unit as a preorder. The tooling will start to wear out after roughly 20 cast parts so this would be a very low-production run. Thoughts?

My quick math makes me think it sounds reasonable. 20 units at $300ea =$6,000

Tooling parts ~ $2,000

Countless hours of work and let's be honest, it'll take more than a year to sell 20 without support from a popular vendor.

$4,000 compensation for a one of a kind (x 20) grill spaced out over a year. I hope it's still worth your trouble, because that is almost not fair to you.

Good to hear guys! I will try and get some sample urethane material in this week hopefully. I've found a flame retardant, impact resistant casting urethane which works great for this application which could see higher heat and road debris.
