Installed my factory fogs Monday - removing front fascia was a pain. Those three tabs on each side - no way to release them even with wheel well opened up, ended up ripping the slots on 5 of 6 of them, but looks fine when put back together. I want complete control of the fog lights so mounted an illuminated switch next to the light switch with a fused hot line direct from the battery. Drilled a hole through the huge rubber grommet where the big wire bundle goes through the fire wall and fished my wires through. About 6 hours, with much of it spent trying to release those stupid tabs. Putting it back together went quickly.

can you install them with just removing the wheel wells and leaving the front fascia on? From the pictures I've seen it looks like there isn't a beam or anything in the way.
I to was thinking of install my own switch simply to avoid the Dealer programing but also so I could later install rally lights along the front bumper where that blank licenseplate black area is (3 or 4 small one) and maybe some on a roof rack. Eventually I want to make a bit of a rally vehicle out of it but thats down down down down the road when its not so new

I just finished installing my fog lights , it really not that hard . Now I have to wait till i go to work Monday to reprogram my bcm
I installed mine and had the BCM reflashed, but they still won't work. Now I have to tear everything back apart again and see why...
It can be confusing in that connector panel under the fuses. Good luck, and let us know how it went!

Long story short, I stuck it in the wrong hole.
Seriously though, I did plug the power wire into the socket just to the right of the intended one. Anyone know how I can unplug the wire, since it's locked in there?
EDIT: A paper clip did the trick. Lights are working fine now.

You should be able to get the pink wire out by releasing the blue tab and using a hair pin to push it back out .

Ok, so depending on where you find the kit online expect to pay about $200 for it? I just looked at GMPD real quick and it's $192 or so...add shipping, just over $200.
Then to have the dealer reflash depends on what you can work out with them....I saw one paid $83. One worked it out for free.
When I upgraded from the stock head unit in my Cobalt to the model that played MP3 discs and had RDS and some other features, I had to pay the dealership 1/2 hour labor to do the reflash (stupid, but that's what they charged because it took 20 minutes for it to upload).
So what does it cost to add this option when you buy the car? $350? $400? More?
I'm trying to see how much you would save vs just having the dealership do it from the start. I know the rates vary from one dealer to another, but best case scenario you spend about $200 for parts and get a free reflash and it takes maybe 2-3 hours. Worst case, you spend $300-350 for the kit plus reflash and spend up to 6 hours of your time.
Not sure if that's worth my time unless I can get the reflash free...which is probably unlikely.
