1.8 ZZP Catback - Videos Incoming

Well, last week I ordered the 1.8L Catback with the secondary cat delete. I had received it this past Friday (May 27), but was sent the one for the Sedan instead of the Hatchback. The label on the outside of the box indicating it was for a Sedan was scratched out. I did order the correct one before anyone makes that comment lol. Yesterday, finally got a response regarding this, and the replacement muffler should be arriving tomorrow (June 2). Install is scheduled for Friday (June 3).

Really hoping that ZZP does redeem themselves on this one. Pretty excited to get it installed and see how it sounds. I know there isn't much on videos and sound clips regarding a 1.8L with muffler and resonator, so as soon as I can, I will post videos for others to hear it.

whats the difference between the 2? the length of the muffler or the length of the exhaust pipe ? also will you be welding it together or using clamps?

The muffler and tip on the two are different.

Sedan exits at the top of the muffler and has a 1.5' tip that slowly drops to clear the rear bumper. There's no cutout on the sedan, hence why it drops down.

The hatchback exits on the bottom of the muffler and the tip is straight out through the cutout on the bumper.

I'll be clamping it for the time being, as I don't even know what it sounds like. I ordered it without the cat, and don't have tune. If I throw a code or don't like the sound, I'll put a cat in there again. If everything is all good, I'll get one of the techs to weld it up for me.

I have the second cat deleted... no codes. I have the 1.4.. Looking at that cat I could see it cutting down on sound and flow..I can post pics of that.

The ZZP is pretty loud compared to my silent LT. There is definitely a drone at moderate speeds that a resonator could probably alleviate.. but I wanted exhaust sound and that is what I got..

Steve at ZZP had told me that a code will probably be detected at one point. Their are threads on here about the code, P0420, that come about after so many miles. It seems to be hit or miss on the vehicles though, some have had it, some haven't.

I'm curious as to what the 1.8 will sound like. Seeing as there is no turbo to dampen sound, and they are sold with both the resonator and muffler. Again, according to ZZP (and BNR), the second cat mostly dampens sound. There are no videos to go by for us with the 1.8, as most have the resonator or muffler deleted, or are something custom.

Had it installed this past Friday, at first startup, it was extremely quiet and didn't sound a whole lot different than stock. After a few hours of running time, it is definitely deeper and a bit louder now.

Not quite loud enough though. Thinking I might remove the resonator and see how that sounds.

I'd trade you my straight pipe for the resonator except mine is all welded together. Mine is pretty quiet on startup, I like the noise at full throttle, but
some low rpms in high gear produce a drone. Basically there is noise anytime your on the gas.. But the stock was completely silent...and noise was what I asked for..

I just had the resonator delete pipe installed. I'll post up a video of it with resonator and without eventually. I've been busy with work and other things. So this hasn't been at the top of my priority list.
