2015+ antenna delete

Hi all my car was hailed on and since im getting the roof replaced i was looking at doing a shark fin since we already have to drop the headliner and tuna can the car...
Anyhow I havent seen one completely deleted by anyone?
The body guy says he can fill up the hole for me no problem but what about having any reception ?
what about using an antenna amplifier from like a Buick lacrosse 22877980?

Just real curious about trying this , I have at least a month before the shop slows down enough to get the car in,
Any solid guidance would be appreciated.

How hard was it dropping the headliner? And did you do it without creasing it?

Well, if you want to install a shark fin antenna, you can find a few options online that do not require having to drop the headliner. Badnewsracing offers a shark fin antenna that simply replaces the factory antenna. All you have to do is unscrew the factory antenna and screw a wire conection that is found in the inside of the shark fin to your existing antenna base. But here's the only problem with this kind of shark fin antenna, it's big. The reason the antenna that you can mount over the existing base is so big is because, if you notice, the factory base of the original antenna is big. I know this because I have one. Here's the one that I have...

If you don't mind the size and shape of this shark fin, then this is one option that you have. Please note that whether you chose this antenna or a different one, the hatchback has a flat roof while the sedan has a curved/slope roof, therefore, the antenna that you choose has to be specific for the sedan or the hatchback so that it sits flush with the roof.

Another option that you have is to completely replace the base of the stock antenna with a smaller one so that you can fit a smaller shark fin on the roof, kinda like the one that the Camaro has.
If you are dropping the headliner anyway, you have more options than to have to settle for one like the one that I have.
Something else that I would like to add is the if you have a Mylink Radio, you might want to stick to an antenna that is made by GM just to make sure that it will still work with your setup. Again, the Camaro has a nice antenna that you can use if you're going that deep in to it.

I have no antenna. I wrapped my roof in gloss black vinyl and covered the holes for the antenna. Looks pretty good.

Well yea lol. The base of the antenna is no longer there. I lost a lot of reception. I don't use FM or Am so no issue for me there.

No the shark fins are cool and all but im talking about having the antenna hole in the new roof welded up and running it completely smooth.

My question is more about how to have some sort of internal antenna set up?
Just trying to get all my ducks in a row before I end up pulling the trigger only to have a slick roof but no radio..

You could run a different type of antenna. You would have to pull the radio, run an xm antenna, then run a new fm/am antenna also using a 40-eu20 adapter to plug into your stock radio. Shouldn't be too hard at all.

I think it has an xm already?

The stock radio does have xm. Removing the stock antenna, you also lose the xm antenna. You would have to run an new xm antenna somewhere to keep the reception.

Sonic007 inspired me. Antenna can either be removed or it can easily be mounted anywhere on the rear deck. The cables in the C-pillar need to be untaped (no disconnections required) from the c-piller/roof and ran to the rear deck instead.

I found this 2" chromed hole plug at Ace Hardware (#4070942)in the sink/tub/plumbing area. Carefully applied some vinyl tint, mounted. I have a 1/4"ID-2"OD-1/16"thick gasket on now, but im about to order a much thinner one. The gasket is required to prevent leaks and scratches (ace neoprene rubber gasket $0.80), but it also helps hold the folded edges of the vinyl too.
