Sonic RS is Amazing
Today opened the autocross season here in Indiana. The RS was amziing in HS. We took the arch rival driving his Honda Fit on last year's ZIIs by a whole second on a short 41-second course today at the Majestic Star Casio in Gary. The Sonic was also on last year's Pilot Super Sports, so we both had old, hard rubber. And yes, I informed all of the other HS drivers that the Sonic was not legal because the wheels were 1/2-inch too wide. I swapped the wheels from the Cruze ECO onto the Sonic this spring. The driver of the Fit said he was not worrried about the wheels. He was worrried about my driving.
The RS changes directions like I did not believe. The Cruze ECO was very handy last year, but the Sonic is a level above. Now I am wondering if the Sonic can't compete with the BMini-Ws straight up. Just need a 7-inch wheel option. I will cost me like $700 to have the forged ECO wheels narrowed by 1/2-inch. Anybody supppose that the National guys might all agree that the driving is the issue instead of my wheel width?
