Ambient lighting

So I have been in a few cars recently that have had some nice ambient lighting in places like the storage slots, cup holders, glove box and door pockets. Has anyone thought of flush mouting some LEDs in these locations and tying it into the controls for the interior dimming switch? I have been thinking a bit and wondering if others were thinking this would be nice as well. It is the one feature the Fiesta has that I wish GM would have put into their vehicles.

Have you flush mounted single LEDs or just thrown some Autozone LED strips in the car? No offense it was the latter, I am just wondering if anyone has done it with the sonic. Looking for angles and position of single leds for the cleanest install possible.

i would have to say even with my cheap autozone strips my installed lights look clean and you wont see the actual led's or wires, and there are no holes drilled to mount the lights ect, got 2 under the feet both in front and back and then 2 in the cup holders, i have pics on the forum some place. all visual mods i do can be taked to stock in 10 min

This is what I've been thinking of. Also, footwell lights and a single LED in the door handles recessed area.

The door handles would be wicked nice. I'd be nervous, though, about ripping the door panels off. My girlfriend has an '07 'Balt, and I have to replace her two front speakers, and I am dreading the job. Back to the lights, I believe the Equinox LT and up had the ambient lights in the door handles... If not, I believe the LaCrosse CXL did too. I'd like the footwells to light up when you open the doors, and a glove box light. What would be really nice is if we could get the whole door panel to light up like the uplevel Camaros.

I've attached a photo of my completed ambient light mod. What are your thoughts?

My moms Toyota has that same idea it shines down onto the cup holders and what not

looks good. my Jetta had a similar light and so does my CX 9. I didn't realize that the hatchback overhead console is so much different than the sedan. I have a ton of extra room in mine.
