Amplifier Ground

Anyone who has any aftermarket stereo system, where did you place your ground? I cannot find a solid place to ground my Amp.

I've sanded down the bolt and the area around the bolt where the cargo hooks are - that didn't work. I've had it hooked to the little metal hooks on the seat-backs, and that works great -- when it works. I'm constantly having to cut the wire back and splice it just to keep it working, but that is the only solid place it has worked.

If you went in the trunk then it sounds like a wire or amp issue. In all 3 of my sonics I've used the bolt area around the cargo hook

I think I'm gonna order some new wire or try to find a Radioshack to pick some up. Thanks guys

I can move the wire slightly and it will start cutting in and out. I can drive down the road and it will turn off, I can get out anf move the wire just barely and it will turn right back on. It's just really finnicky.

Sounds like a bad connection, not an issue with the location. Let's see a pic

Agreed. I grounded mine near the Spare tire, Sanded down the paint. Got a Self tapping Screw and mounted it there. Haven't ever had a problem.
Make sure the Ground is Actually the Problem and not the AMP or any other wiring

Mine speaker and amp are in the spare hole... ground to the back seat bolt and home run to the battery positive.

I have my amp mounted on the seat back, my ground is shorter that 18" mounted under the rear seat. I used a kit called "PositiveGround"

Possibly a bad crimp under that heat shrink.
