So I'm getting ready to (maybe) install permanent roof tracks on my hatch. The idea of drilling into the car is scaring the bejesus out of me, so I may not actually do it. That said, if I do I'd like to make sure I don't drill into anything important like wires, cross beams, or airbags.
A lot of you folks out there are a lot more adventurous than I am and someone may have already removed the headliner at some point. If you have and have pics I'd love it if you could post them. Additionally, if anyone has any thoughts on how to best go about this I'd appreciate it.
Alternatively, if you think it isn't hard to remove and then replace the headliner that might be an option as well.
Finally, I had also considered lowering each door instead so that a regular rhino rack would fit. But that seems like it might be beyond my skills. Do you think that would be doable? Is it even possible? Would it be difficult for someone with no experience to do?
(Regular racks don't fit on my car as is - even when aligned perfectly flush the clamps rub against the metal of the doors - so that isn't an option)
