ANZO USA Headlights (Actual pair, pictures, thoughts)

Hey Sonic owners,
I got my hands on a pair of ANZO USA aftermarket headlights. These have been brought up and discussed a few times on the forum pages here, so I thought I'd post some pictures of the ACTUAL pair I received this week. I'll be putting them in my 15' Sonic RS probably in the next week or two when I have some free time and I'll be sure to post pics of them in the car! I bought them on Amazon for $375 and they arrive in quite a large box, but with nice foam inserts that wrapped the lights nicely. They do have projectors in the low beams, regular reflectors in the high beam and do have halo rings on both high and low assemblies. So far, they look really sturdy and of quality. Of course, for that price, they better be! Here's what the real ones look like:

Those are the same ones they sell on Ebay for wayyy cheaper, Eagle eye brand makes them all. I have a set, and I love them!

I think those are what I got. Eagle Eyes is correct. They projector lows were H4 (Euro?) so I used the TRS package (relay and HID bulbs) to complete the conversion.

The haloes have not worked since the first few months after install but I did not do the conversion for the haloes so I never followed up. I think I did the conversion before Labor Day 2013 so I have had them for a while.

This is a hard question to answer since you could use a silverstar bulb in a projector housing.

A well designed projector housing will waste a little less light than a free-form reflector and will have a more tightly controlled beam pattern.

Silverstars, or any other tinted bulbs are more for a change of headlight color. The marketing claims of "brighter" are nebulous as DOT specifies a maximum lumen output for each bulb type. The only exceptions are higher wattage bulbs labelled "offroad use only".

One thing I do like about the Silverstar Ultra's is that they're about 4100K. That's the perfect color temperature for me (not too warm, not too cool), to see at night. I have noticed a significant improvement switching to these bulbs from the OEM bulbs that came with the car.

Whatever they're doing, it works!

I read over on Cruzetalk where someone opened their headlight switch and removed the spring which returns the knob to the DRL position. Without the return spring the switch stays in the off position.

Seems like an elegant solution, without that spring you now have the 'everything off' position where it stays until you move it.

Ahhhh...that'd be a cool eBay buy, just buy the switch try it out, and keep your OEM for a safe spare...
