Arm Rest on drivers Door

I'm starting to think I purchased a "defected" sonic. The paint on the plastic arm rest attached to the drivers door is chipping off! My dealer is ordering another one. Yet i've owned this vehicle 2 weeks! These things should not be happening.

The dealer swore I scratched it off by hitting it with something and I promise you that is not the case.

This is my first Chevy purchase and at this moment I'm not impressed.

Happened to my old Cobalt, What I did is I painted over it but I haven't heard it from anyone else on this forum or at my dealer I go to. Do you have fingernails? (I'm not saying you did it but thats why mine started chipping)

I have the same thing on the arm rest of my WRX. I'm guessing it is either my watch or wedding band that are causing it. I am going to be much more careful when I get my Sonic. I will be removing my watch and probably my wedding band when I get in the car!

And hang in there and don't give up on the Sonic quality just yet! I know it's frustrating, but it sounds like your dealer is taking good care of you. Hang in there!

Not if the arm rest paint is already showing signs of easily flaking off. And I don't care how cheap or expensive the car is, if I'm investing any amount of money, and I know something as simple as that will keep the car looking better, then I'm going to do it.

The arm rest of my Subaru drives me nuts. It looks like an animal clawed at it.

Had the same thing happen in my 08 HHR in places that I wouldn't have expected the paint to chip off - on return of my leased HHR, the dealership didn't even care about that, probably is very common place and is expected wear and tear.

have you considered removing your shoes to save the carpet along with the wedding band and watch..or you could put all your clothes in the back seat while driving...if you total the sonic in an accident don't forget to tell the arresting officer about your cars prestine interior.

My dealer tried to blame it on ...fingernail polish (not me), nailpolish remover (uh no), rings (don't wear any)....hahaha!!!
