[Scroll Down for Race Day/Day 2 info]
Today there was a free AUTO-X instructional course and runs for Service members at the Cherry Point Air station. Tomorrow is main event, say over 100 people are expected.
So naturally as the Sonic has gone past its 1500 mile mark (~1700 at the starting line) I took it for a drive through the small "learn a little about all turns" Auto-X course they have next to the Main course set for tomorrow.

Spliced a later outside run with my first inside run with an instructor, I eventually got to the point where I was full out and just a touch of steering through the last section...full out with the 1.8L isn't saying much but hey this is a fun car.

Race Day/Day 2 info
Overall very pleased with how it went on race day, one more session and I think I would have been into the 59.XXX's. Ran outside the cones on the long sweeper one pass and just about spun in the last session.
Being my daily driver and I plan to keep this for some time I don't plan to make this a habit...however it was fun and would be tempting to do every weekend. Tires don't like it though and its nice to keep a warranty.
The benefit of this is now I know the "limits" of the Sonic and how it handles at the limit, so in an emergency it can only help to avert disaster knowing the characteristics of your car.
Enough blah blah blah, more videos!
