Brakes and driver side airbag recall.

just got a call today from my dealership about a recall on my 1lt 1.4t for driver side airbag and one on my wife's black 1.8 for brakes and driver side airbag. I am taking in the 1.4t today to see whats up. Has anyone else been called about this yet.

I took my 1.8 LT sedan over to our Chevy dealership in town today to get the fog lights programmed and noticed they checked something based on the print out/receipt I got. It said:

"12020 Customer Satisfaction - Driver Airbag Inspection
RECALL
RECALL COMPLETE REPOSITIONED CUSHION V2547"

As to what that means, I have no idea. No one mentioned it before hand to me and I just happenned to read the paper after I left.

I haven't seen this one at work yet, but Ive seen similar before. Usually means an airbag, and they are mostly the "Curtain" airbag (pillars and roof). Its always just a check to see if its in the right position. Of ones Ive checked, none have been out of position.

my service manager said they had to relocate a felt pad for some reason i didn't ask why. maybe it interfered with airbag deployment

Air Bag Recall (Mar 9)

Brought my Sonic to Main Motors Chevrolet in Anoka, MN yesterday to get the oil changed and have the fuel filler hose clamp recall taken care of to find out a new recall, something to do with the airbag was just issued March 9th.

No worries, take care of all of it.

Came back an hour and a half later, they apologized for the long wait (as both recall jobs are only 0.2 hours from what I saw at a glance) and told me it was their first time doing these recall items.

Still no worries...

Got in my car, noticed my steering wheel had been moved (likely to work on the air bag) and also noticed a 2 inch scratch on the silver bezel of the cluster just below the bottom row of idiot lights. Went back in, had the writer come out and point to where they worked on it, he pointed to the air bag and immediately saw the scratch. I told him it wasn't there before.

To sum it up, I have to go back in so they can scan for the part number FOR THE ENTIRE CLUSTER as the bezel can't be replaced.

Needless to say, somebody got a good lickin'. I'm sure that's about a $200-$600 part.

So please ask your dealer to be cautious if you have the air bag recall serviced.

My drivers side airbag was "repaired" yesterday after a recall.

I will have to check out the repair. I am more concerned about the lack of a part to fix my non working Air Conditioning! Not good marketing for a new car...It is on a national backorder.

I took mine in yesterday for it's first oil change and was told it was under recall for the airbag. When I picked it up they said everything was ok and to ignore any letter I receive in the mail.

Took our 1.4T in today to have a vent fixed and the dealer called about the airbag and the fuel fill quick release. They are doing both of the recalls while the car is there.

Not sure what the fuel quick release recall is about, but I found some info on the airbag recall.

It has to do with the fastener being a little loose which can lead to squeaking and rattling apparently. My cabin has been whisper quiet, so I haven't bothered going to the dealer.

Still looking into the fuel filler though.

Nevermind, already addressed in another thread.

Reason For This Recall: GM has decided to conduct a voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2012 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles. The fuel filler hose clamp may not be fully connected to the inlet check valve and release vapors into the air. An inaccurately installed clamp may result in an inadequate seal between the fill hose and the inlet check valve. If this occurs, there may be an odor of fuel and the Check Engine light may illuminate.

What Will Be Done: Your Chevy dealer will inspect the fuel filler hose clamp, and if necessary, reposition and reconnect the hose. This service will be performed for you at no charge.

Just got my notification from the dealer today. I've got an appointment on Monday to get it checked out.

Didn't get a notification about a recall, but apparently my airbags were borked. The passenger seatbelt light came on one day while I was driving and wouldn't turn off. I took it in to the dealer and they said that it was a good thing I brought it in, because a faulty part was found, and if I had gotten into an accident, none of my airbags would have deployed.

They fixed that particular issue, but the pass. light is still on. My car has been at the dealer since last Tuesday and they can't seem to figure out what's causing it. Anyone else have this problem? Is it part of the airbag recall?

If you were to do a little reading, you'd find that a couple of early Sonics (built in 2011) left the factory without rear brake pads. Effectively a dead issue now.

I remember another similar incident happened with a different forum member but it was the out side of their vehicle. They said that they now film a video of their entire car before it goes into the dealer. The dealer damaged their vehicle after a repair and he was able to prove with his camera phone video that it was fine before it went to the service dealer. Therefore, forcing the dealer to fix his car for free. I plan on doing the same each time I go in. Just remember one thing...the camera never lies.
