Chrome door handles and mirror covers on black sedan

Did your factory painted mirror caps break when you pulled them off? Mine did, at least, one of the big clips did.

Yeah it sure did. The thing was I took one of them off before I had even ordered the chrome ones. Point being that clip evidently isn't tooooo important. The actual mirror has a clip also

Not to bump an old thread...but do either of you (or anyone else) have any tips..after the fact, so they might not break off ?

buy the gm accessories mirror caps and have a dealer install them... if they break it, then they have to fix it at no additional cost to you.
