chrome door trim falling apart

I have a 2012 LT hatchbach, with 13,000 miles and the ONLY thing that has disappointed is the stupid metal door trim.

On my model, the driver and passenger side front door trims seem to pop up like they are not mounted propperly, and the metal bit seems to slide forward seperating from the plastic that it sits in. This metal piece then slides under that plastic triangle bit on the front part of the door that the side mirrors come out of.

I am afraid to take it back to the dealership and see about waranty work because in my experience the dealership always makes the car 100% worse after they touch it.

Any ideas about what I would find if I popped them off and tried to fix them and remount them?

I was hoping someone knew what is under the trim pieces, how they attach so I can take them off and fix them and hope to get them on again. I guess I will have to leap without looking on that one.

if you want the car to look better, you can just take them off.

Isn't there a thread about removing the trim pieces?

Anyways, there's most likely a clip at the b pillar. Other than that I think they just slide in at the back of the windows and towards the mirrors. Not sure.

Having the same problem on the driver side door. Gonna use E2000 glue to make it permanent. Been to the dealer & they only made it worse.

Mine have been replaced twice. Each set was adjusted twice for a total of 5 trips to the dealership for this one problem. Now, the drivers side trim needs adjustment/replacement, again. Things tend to fall off these cars.

I have this very same issue on my 02 S10. Had that issue since day one, I used some black silicone along the inside edge and pushed it down. It held up for a couple for years then started to pop up again..they haven't flown off yet so I just ignore it for the most part ;-p
