Clutch choices

I'm in need of a new clutch, as mine now slips 4th and above under hard throttle. Looking at a Spec Stage 1. What has anyone here experienced with Spec, and if that's not a good option, what is everyone else running? I'm running a Diablosport Intune on the 93 octane setting with an opened up exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler and a resonator delete with stock air box. Any and all input would be appreciated.

I had a couple of clutches made by Clutchmasters, each lasted me less than 5K miles. As a quick emergency fix I had an OEM 2013 clutch installed, figuring I would replace it soon, but needed to get my car the rest of the way home first (burned that second clutch out 3 states away from home).

75K miles later, and about 60 more whp later as well, I'm still doing fine on that OEM clutch. For wear purposes, I don't think there's anything 99% of the Sonic modding community needs to worry about if they have a 2013+ OEM clutch.

On the other hand, it's a big slow double mass clutch that's doubtless costing me fractions of a second. If there's an aftermarket clutch out there that can actually hold as well as or better than the 2013+ OEM clutch, I could certainly see buying it. I still miss mine a little... just don't miss getting stranded and am not willing to be the prototyper a third time!

I'm just about ready to order the Spec 3+ and steel flywheel. I don't feel that the Stage 1 will give me the safety margin I want, especially if I end up doing the BNR turbo.

I specifically want to avoid the Kevlar in the Spec 2 and 3. I don't want to take a chance on improperly breaking them in. I've sold a couple of Clutchmasters Kevlar setups that failed. I've never had a problem with any other brand, and want to avoid any chance of yanking my trans out twice.

Thank you very much for the info. I originally balked at putting another GM clutch in because the first one has worn so much plus the price was higher than an aftermarket unit.

The GM Performance clutch is supposed to be good stuff, and is really inexpensive. I believe it's under $300 and includes the flywheel. It is only a mild upgrade, like 10-20% stronger, slightly larger disc.

I just installed the gmperformance clutch about a week ago, it was around $260 shipped to my door, i'm probably gonna wait one more week before i can beat on it a little bit and ill report back with my thoughts.

How is the GM performance clutch working? And where did you get it from?

Any news back on the GM Performance clutch and how it performs? Would love to upgrade my stock 2013 RS clutch as it's at 41k and the engagement point is hard to get used to. I'm seeing guestimates around $800-$1100 for labor though? I'm in the Bay area but even that seems crazy high.
