Code 82: Oil change

I'm aware of what this means and I'm sure there are a hundred posts on here about this already, but I just have a question. Is it flashing this code because the quality of my oil is going bad, or is it because I'm approaching my first 7500 miles? My next "scheduled" oil change isn't until 8000 miles.

I did mine before 400mi and wish I hadn't waited that long.

It can't "sense" the oil is bad. It's going off mileage. Just get your oil changed ASAP and clear the code. Engine off, turn key on, scroll through menu button, then press and hold the reset button on the end of the stalk to clear it.

I did my first oil change at 3000 miles. That's why I'm asking, but thanks I figured it just went off of miles. I'll wait til 8000 then.

I'm guessing it wasn't reset at the 3000 oil change and now its at 7,500+ and code 82 is showing.

eh, it goes off the percentage thing, which is just going off how many gallons of fuel go through your car. hardly "sensing," but still.

alas, just resetting it will make that code go away.

my next oil change isn't til i'm just over the 13K mark and when i get it changed it will be at the dealership where i had my transmission done since on fridays they have free oil changes for people in the military.
