2015 Chevy Sonic 4dr Sedan Automatic - After Market Cruise Control
The cruise control arrived via USPS , today . Started installing it , after I got off work .
I had downloaded the instructions & watched a YouTube video showing an install on a 2012 Sonic and a Spark .
There are several cables ;
A - one cable that plugs into the OBD II connector and the other end plugs into the " controller " .
B - one cable that plugs into the accelerator ( gas petal ) and the connector that originally plugged into the accelerator plugs into a second connector of the cruse control cable - the other end of the cruse control cable plugs into the " controller "
C - the new " stalk " with the off / on , set & resume terminates with six " pins " that are installed in a black and a white connectors - these in turn plug into black and white connectors of another cable - the other end of this connector plugs into the " controller "
D - a fused red 12 VDC + wire - the instruction showed where to splice into an existing wire , solder the connection and tape it - I found an un-used fuse labeled " Trailer " - pulled the fuse , sruck the stripped end of the wire into one side of the fuse clip and pushed the fuse back in .
Mounted the " stalk " a little behind and a little higher than the turn signal stalk . Not perfect , but good enough .
Going around the " loop " , up and down over passes , it holds + - 2 mph . Good enough . Wifey seems to be happy with the little car and the cruise control .
Took 2 - 3 hours . Would have taken less if I had not taken a test drive first , with the stalk and cable hanging " loose " . That worked OK .
Conferred with Wifey & determined where to drill the hole in the plastic surrounding the steering column . This would be the mounting location of the " stalk " .
Then had to push the 6 pins out of the white and the black connector , so I could thread the cable through the hole . And make the nut on the other side up tight .
Then had to re-install the 6 pins into the white and the black connectors .
And put everything back together .
