Cruise Control

I don't know if this is the exact place to put this, but i searched for it, and didn't find the answer i was looking for. Please move it to the right place if its not so. Anyways, i went through the manual. Didn't help much. I tried quite a few things as well... My Cruise control won't work? A while ago, when I took my car for a test drive, the dealer first drove it, and showed me the cruise control... For the life of me, I cannot make it work... I drive Highway a whole lot to go to school and I would use this very much if i knew how to use it.. i drive the 2LT.

do you have a little white light on the tach that looks like a speedo?

Push the button to turn it on before you try setting the speed, it's the button that on the right of the cruise control buttons.

As in at a stand still? Or when you are at your desired speed? Because I know where the button is,and once it's lit white, it doesn't do anything, the moment i let off the gas, it decelerates completely. All it is doing for me is lighting up my dash with the cruise control button, and not doing anything else.

Well not only do you have to turn it on, you have to hit the toggle switch down to set it, at desired speed. I don't have cruise but the diagram explains pretty well

Do you drive a stick or automatic?

I ask as my wife had this same problem on her last car. It was a manual transmission. I finally watched her trying to set it one day and noticed her foot barely touching the clutch pedal. There may be a secondary clutch switch that if the clutch pedal is not released FULLY it will not engage the cruise control. It may also disengage instantly if you foot touches the clutch pedal even the slightest.

Just a possibility.....

duh... Disregard. 2LT=Auto. Are you a two foot driver and your left foot touching the brake pedal intermittently?

2LT does not mean Auto. Basically what you need to do is turn CC on and then set it by moving the toggle down. Don't hit the brakes and if you have the manual take your foot off the clutch. I don't mean to be completely rude but this isn't rocket science.

That's just it, i've followed those directions from what i have for directions myself, tried setting it after i'm at the desired speed, nothing will engage beside the light. @rodslinger yeah it's an auto, and no i don't press on the brakes while trying this method.

2LT does mean auto...... 2LTZ means auto. 1LT is manual, 1LTZ is manual....

They must have changed it in the last few years because the number is typically an indication of a minor step up in trim or interior and nothing to do with the drive train.

I use to sell Chevy's at the largest Nocal dealer and was known as Mr. Product knowledge...

And for the Sonic 1 is manual, 2 is auto.

Push the button that looks like a speedo and you should get a white light on dash. Left from it is a toggle switch push it down and the light should change to green on the dash, cruise is now set. If you have to disengage cruise push toggle up and it will resume your previous speed. You can also speed up and slow down by pushing up and down on toggle. Button all the way to the left cancels cruise but keeps settings, just like stepping on the brakes. You also have to be going faster than 25 or 30 for cruise to work, I don't know exact speed it cuts off in sonic.

Yeah i tried. Going about 70, push button stays white. Push down toggle to engage... Nothing happens. So i'm stumped from there. Yeah if it's suppose to turn green then i'm gonna have to go to dealership cause it ain't turnin green...
