Does anyone know how to disable the seatbelt alarm? My Matrix has a sort of up down left right start select thing that disables the seat belt chime when not engaged and moving. Anyone know of this sort of thing with the Sonic? No I do not want to cut wires, or remove anything. And Yes I do wear it so if all you have to say is "well just put it on" then feel free to make a useless post in my thread. Thanks

If you really want to stop it from beeping at you they make these seat belt blanks that you just plug into the receptacle and fools the car into thinking the belt is on.

If someone does not want to wear there seat belt. It is there problem. Not yours. You do not have to deal with it.

Yes the seat belt thing pisses me off too. I live on a farm and use my car to run around to different places. Not going to put my damn seat belt on on my own property. And the passenger one is soooo annoying.

Depends on local laws. If I recall correctly, In NC,someone over 18 would get the ticket but someone underage, the driver would get the ticket.
It's just not worth it to NOT wear it. Don't be stupid.

I don't really care. Your missing my point. It's his choice what he wants to do. If he wants a ticket it's his problem.
And when have laws stopped someone from doing something? Speeding is against the law. People still do it. Most states texting and driving is against the law. People still do it.

Mostly this. I dont always put it on before I roll out, and I often take it off before I am completly stopped. Also if I am driving 50 feet to move the car, and I do get the ocasional passenger who wishes to go through my windshield, hey thats thier choice. Just a curiosity I was hoping someone would have an answer to as I cant seem to find it posted anywhere

As for passengers, any passenger in my car that is not buckled up becomes a danger to me in an accident, therefore it is my choice whether they wear a belt in my car. When my passenger doesn't buckle, the dinger is my cue.."hey can you put your belt on, that sh its driving me batty". My usual riders know why I ask them to buckle even if they don't usually. If they don't want to buckle, they don't have to ride.

I'm sure like any sensor its just on or off. find the wire going to the seat. there has to be a connector to the sensor when u find it disconnect it and try just completing the circuit with a spare piece of wire. the sensor is either hot all the time or its not. im guessing its not hot.

I frequently move my car relatively short distances on private property, hop in, move over there, pick up person X, move to that spot, pick up person Y, so on and so forth. The dinger seems to wait a long long time before it starts, if you aren't moving fast. But I can see it being annoying nonetheless.
My solution is to buckle my seatbelt before I get in the car, and just sit on/lean against it. Same for the passenger belt, which often isn't a passenger but rather some heavy object or other, heavy enough to trigger the alarm.
A programmable work around would be nice, but I haven't heard of one.

I know in the older GMs there was just a two wire sensor in the seatbelt latch. Find the connector and unplug it, or jump the two leads together. Haven't looked in the Sonic, but I'd imagine its tied into the bcm or sir module, so probably not that simple. Also, I would have to question whether the airbags would work if you did manage to disable it.
