Door ajar ding extremely annoying

this is my first new car and usually the first thing i do when i get a car is disable the door ajar ding and the seat belt ding. My main concern is the door ajar ding. Has anybody disabled it yet.

You can turn on the radio without the key in the ignition and not here the chime, ah, technology.

I also want to disable it, around where I live most ppl leave the keys in their vehicles as do I and the ding is very anoying.. if it was like my GMC truck and I could just pull the key out halfway to stop the alarm I would be fine with that..

Ford does this same ****, I don't want my chevy to do it

And as much tinkering as I do on my car I would rather not deal with the dinging or pulling out my key just to reinsert it and repeat..

I view it in the same regard as TC on fwd cars!! Unnecesary BS

If you want to disable the chime you must disconnect left front door speaker.

The Chime is a message sent from the Bcm to the radio on the low speed lan bus, in order to produce the chime and for turn signal "click " noise.

I think it was already pointed out that you don't need the key to play the radio. just push the volume knob/power button.

the door open/close switch is an integral part of the door lock assembly. i dont have a schematic, but you can ground one of the wires in the assembly (the one that sends the signal back to the BM that the door is closed) and that will permanently kill the door open alarm for that door.

would i suggest it??? no. will i do it??? no way.

for the seatbelt part, you can buy a seatbelt extension...and all that is is a buckle with an adjustable strap on it with a insert for the factory buckle. leave it in there and you're set

as for my opinion on disabling any safety equipment that will save your life in the event of a wreck....let Darwin's theory hold true. work smarter, not harder...and let the dumb die with the weak.

i dont work as a mechanic any more. a month ago i would have it here but...time for a change. but if there are any mechanics or anyone who has access to mitchel or all-data should be able to pull it up

The information on the latch is true but the bcm looks for a ground, The Grounding of the wire triggers the chime on. The circuit would need to be open but you will also loose the interior lights with the door open.

agreed. actually at my new job theres' a guy that was a master gm tech. he said the same. so...he's working on the schematic, we couldnt print at work, so he's gonna bring it from home tomorrow hopefully. i'll post a pic and you can do whatever you want. grounding the wire will make the car assume the door is always closed (so yes, the lights wont come on, the door ajar warning wont operate, and the issue you have with the radio will be gone), but also, you're voiding warranty to any issues that may arise with the BCM, door, door lock module, and the wiring harness.

so make sure it's really worth it to you.

if it were me, i'd keep a little pocket screwdriver in the door pocket and just 'close' the door with the driver by puttin the tip in and sliding it all the way in (yes, pervs, that's for you), 'closing' the door with it open. i did it on BMW every time i programmed.

Thanks severous, depending on how difficult it will be to find a good access point I may or may not go thru with it.

Funny you mention closing the latch on BMWs, I often did that while servicing them when I worked at the dealer. I also completely forgot about such an easy solution :/

So it seems like the front driver door speaker is making the noise and for my music i never touch the fader or balance so why not just tie the back left speaker to the front speaker so the sound wont be played? oh and detach it from the front speaker wires first.
