Factory Engine Oil

Does anyone know what the factory/dealerships use in this car as far as regular, syn. blend, or full syn. oil? I plan on using full synthetic, but was wondering what they use at the dealers in this car and what oil the counter is set up for.

If it is regular oil I do a short oil change or two when switching to synthetics since it cleans a bit of stuff out. That's why I am wondering.

Mobil One Synthetic.

I used royal purple for my last oil change, no comaplaints, but ill likely be switching it to mobile 1 full synthetic and stick with that

Mobil 1 is Dexos compliant right on the bottle so go for it!

Per my memory, for current model year production only the new Corvette Z06 and Camaro Z28 and ZL1 require Mobile 1. Chevy is actively moving to Dexos1 for their gasoline fueled engines.

To the OP, I run Mobil 1 extended performance and change it when the car tells me to. This is typically 9000-10,000 miles. 99% of which are highway miles.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong here), our cars come with a syn-blend of oil. I know they're not a full syn, but after the break-in that's all I've put in mine.

Being the filter fits inside the housing on the engine rather than being it's own separate case, I highly doubt it. If there is one being marketed as such I wouldn't trust it.

I've been using OEM filters from the dealer just because it's been convenient and the price is decent.

Recommend not require AND diesel fueled engines use a different form of Dexos. But your point is my point just a more specific expression than mine.

And, of course, there are specific exceptions, some of which I listed.

I ran the dexos1 RP for 45k miles with 0 issues, I fact I loved the oil.

Last 2 oil changes have been with HPS, oil analysis have came back good.

At what % do you change the oil? Mine is around 40% now and I wondered when to change it.

I found an AcDelco oil filter locally. It was the one listed in the manual as an oe approved filter. Paired it with Royal Purple oil. I will probably go to a dealer next time. I didn't like dealing with O'Reily Auto Parts...

Right is dexos
Left is HPS

The engine seems quieter on cold start ups, but performance seems the same.
