Forge Atmo BOV - Stutter with Tune

So I've been emailing back and forth to Tim at ZZP. He says that if I put the Forge BOV on my car... I will see stuttering problems.

Something about the intake is expecting to see that air. Only my BOV will be letting it exit. So I will see a stutter on blow-off and there is no way to tune that out.

To get the noise that want I would have to put it on the charge pipe?

Can anyone with the BOV comment. I don't really know anything about performance and am planning on leaving it off per his recommendation.

He says that their Sonic runs the stock BOV.

I have the forge bov, mpfab intake and I'm tuned with trifecta, no problems. If you get the bov you HAVE TO HAVE THE TRIFECTA TUNE WITH ECP ENABLED!

Edit: the reasoning behind the problems you mention is indeed the car expecting the air.

You do needs the Ecp tune or the car won't run in the atmospheric bov but...

The bov will stutter with or without the tune depending on a lot of things.

For example. If I easily let off the gas it will get a series of spews not just one woosh.

There are other reasons you may here that. If you don't have any aftermarket ic piping you get a lot of flex from the factory piping and that will also cause a small amount of stuttering from the bov.

I have the hard charge and silicon charge kit from DDM and normal shifting it doesn't stutter but if I let off the gas slowly it will.

Either way it sounds awesome.

The engine stuttering (not BOV) is caused by the ECM adding fuel to the air for the amount of air it thinks should still be in the system but is not there because of the atmospheric vent, there for the car is running rich during venting and initial application of the throttle afterwards causing this condition.

OP, if you have a Trifecta tune purchased from ZZP just contact Trifecta with your tune file and vin and they should be able to tell you if you have ECP enabled.

I understand the BOV will flutter like that, ZZP is talking about an engine stutter due to what I described, a BOV flutter is normal under light throttle and isn't what is causing issues when adding a BOV to a stock tuned or non ECP enabled car...

Rdss this was the op quote from zzp. To me that sounds like they are saying that the bov is stuttering. And that no tune will help that we all know a Ecp tune will help the engine stutter but they are saying it won't which leads me to believe they are talking about bov stutter. And them mentioning charge pipe tells me that they where also referencing bov stutter not engine stutter. Solid hard pipes from the Intercooler will help with bov stutter. I have the DDM hard charge and the rest is silicone and I don't see bov stutter unless I ease off the gas. But I'd think with solid charge pipes it probably wouldn't do that but I could be wrong.

This is what Tim was talking about. Sorry this is probably all due to me not having any clue what I'm talking about. I asked Tim if they do an ECP tune. He didn't really reply to that question. Just the tune wouldn't be able to account for the missing air and won't be able to tune that out.

I'm getting a tune direct from ZZP... not trifecta.

Trifecta is the only company that can account for the air lost during an atmospheric vent (ECP/hybrid MAF MAP tune). I would stick with the stock valve or upgrade to Forge's BPV which won't give you loud vent but wil give you a more crisp vent through your upgraded intake.

keep stock bpv you really need that loud of a whoosh. Car running precise is more important in my opinion

Mine runs precise with the forge bov. I've had zero problems. Of course I'm Ecp tuned.

And yes I really need that loud woosh it sounds amazing.

What type of guage. I'm running a UG mine is fine.

It's a glowshift gauge lol. I just spliced the vacuum line with a T and ran the boost gauge worked fine until after I put the bov in

Make sure no kinks in the line. If you have access to a UG use it to see if it matches your guage.

Your around several vacuum lines messing with the bpv maybe you knocked something loose?
