Front License Plate Bracket

Mine came with one already mounted from the dealer which I had to remove. I believe drilling it is your best option, as that is how they do it, then they secure it with rivets. Do you have the OEM license plate bracket? should be as simple as holding it up to the bumper cover in the lower grill and marking the holes. I might use plastic rivets from an auto parts store to mount it. Just find the right size rivets for the holes in the bracket, along with the same size drill bit and have at it. Or I'm sure a dealer would take care of it for a nominal fee. I can measure the spacing for the holes if you like.

I still have yet to mount the front plate bracket and I've had my plates about 2 months. I am not drilling into that bumper. Just don't run red lights or drive like a dick and you'll be fine.

I didnt have the option.. I told the dealership not to put it on and to my suprise it was on when i picked the car up... Their response.. O well its done now

IN states where front plates are mandatory, it's mandatory at the dealer too.
I don't know how that dealership is getting away with not putting one on, let alone making you do it.
Running lights isn't the only way it becomes a problem.
******* parking enforcement will tag you like crazy too.
I don't run a front plate on my Z and both in San Francisco and in Berkeley they tagged me for it - while parked.
(They have the right and love to coolect/exercise it.)

3m mounting tape should do the trick if you are really that anxious about drilling. I mean the double sided foam kind that you can pick up at any auto parts store, wall mart, etc. The stuff has amazing holding power for the short term at least. In fact, I believe it is the principal method attachment for aftermarket body kits these days, so holding up a half pound or so of bracket and license plate should be no problem. I can't promise you that you won't lose your tag after a couple years, but its worth a shot, and will look much better than zip ties.

NOT just any 3M double-sided tape.
You are correct, 3M tape is used for holding body kits in place.
The tape is specifically made/marketed for this purpose.
perhaps I wasn't specific enough. something like this:
3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape, double sided tape, foam tape, 3M mounting tape

ou can get them at any auto parts store. I believe they are called body panel retainers, trim panel retainers, or something of the sort. I got mine at autozone. I think they are 1/4 inch diameter, of course that depends on what size bit you use to drill the rivets. Be careful in drilling the rivets or you can enlarge the holes in your bumper cover.
aren't you required to have a front plate in CA? you can only drill as small as the shafts of the rivets are, and I think they are about 1/4 inch. To drill the head of the rivet off, though, I think you will want to use a drill bit slightly larger than the hole in the head in the rivet. The rivets are very soft (possibly aluminum) and they spin when you try to drill them, which requires you to apply a moderate amount of pressure in order to get the bit to bite into them. out of 4, I went all the way through on one of the rivets, and let me tell you, that plastic is like butter. the one hole is not much bigger than the others, and with the plugs in, nobody will no except me (and now all of you).
