I contemplated doing LED in the compartment but chose to add panel LED,s to the map lights. Really lights up the entire area with bright white light, cheap and simple as well.

I used this item from Ikea called DIODER designed for a kitchen drawer:

DIODER LED battery-operated lamp f/drawer - IKEA

It works great! No switch - some kind of proximity detection.

From the Ikea instructions:

When the drawer opens the lamp will be lit for 15 seconds.
When the drawer closes the lamp will be on for another 5
seconds and then be switched off.

This is a great idea! Next time I make the pilgrimage to the great home decor store I'll have to pick a couple up.

I do not know if Ikea Romania have Dioder.
