HID 35w vs 55w

I see a few kit but now I have to decide whether I will install a 35w kit or a 55w kit.

Obviously 55w will be brighter but google search is telling me that 55w might burn your wiring. Mind you these experience I read are on 03-06 audis, who were (maybe still true) to have electrical problems in their cars. On a sonic it may be a totally different story.

Anyone here installed any HID on their Sonic yet? If so that kit and wattage rating are you currently using?

I did the 35watt. My buddy had one he didnt need. Looks great. Just wired up a relay and it worked great.

I'm running 35W 8000K HIDs in projectors. They are very bright. If you are just running the PnP kit, a 55W is completely overkill and will scatter VERY powerful light all over the place. Its up to you if you want to risk starting your car on fire for some extra wattage, especially if its only a PnP.

55w will or will not burn the light housing and or the wire harness. its normally not recommended for stock head lights. Stay with the 35w bulbs you will be fine and wont need to worry about things melting and shorting out. Yes i know you can run the 55w but it would take some precautionary work to make them function right with out destroying things.

And with 55w headlights, you will constantly get high-beamed by oncoming drivers. Do you really want to deal with that all the time?

55w is very very bright. Way overkill. There will even be glare with projectors.
