How do you remove the door chrome trim?

Hey Sonic Owners!
I want to know how to remove the door chrome trim on the Sonic. I don't like the chrome and I want to either dip or paint it black instead. My problem is that, every time I try to dip it on the vehicle, it wants to peel because of the rubber sealer against the windows and when you pull the tape, it'll lift the dip up and rip. I'm looking for a way to take it off and then put it back on after I finish blacking it out. Have any of you done this? Thanks!

Is that a little cap on the end which you can gently pry off with a flathead screwdriver ? I think that Chrome piece slides down the rail towards the end with the cap holding it in place.... that's my theory. Gently!!

Well, on my 2012 LT sedan, the cap on the end definitely does not come off. I ended up bending the hell out of it and it's not coming off. I gorilla glued it back into place and will be plasti-dipping it. For the plasti-dip to come off right, take a razor or any other sharp knife and cut along the edge gently. This should separate the plasti-dip on the trim from the plasti-dip on the tape and make it work.
