Hey guys I just wanted to let ya'll know how I cheeped out on adding cruise control to my 2015 LS Sonic. I just want to add that I am not response-able for any issues or damages caused to your vehicle if you do this. I started out by finding out that the cheapest I could get the factory GM accessory cruise control add on was 280 shipped but then you have to pay to get the car programmed which at my dealer was $128 for a total of a bit over 400 bucks. I then looked at a parts blow up of the steering wheel and though that I could buy the cruise control switch and wiring harness and add them to my steering wheel. I got the switch and harness from parts.com for 55 bucks shipped, you need to make sure you order the correct parts for your car by looking at the parts description. I found out how to remove my steering wheel by doing a google search of chevy sonic steering wheel removal also you can look at the cruze as its removal is the same. You basically disconnect the battery so the airbag hopefully doesn't blow up in your face. Then turn the steering wheel upside down and on the back side of the wheel are two slots. Simply get two small screw drivers and insert them at a slight angle toward the middle of the wheel untill they stop on a plate inside the wheel. Then pull the handles out as you are pushing two spring loaded bars out of locks on the back side of the air bag. Its easier than it sounds. After I received the parts i took off the air bag and discovered that the spot where the cruise control switch is suppose to go is not a removable blank but is made into the wheel. I then lucked up and found a 2013 used steering wheel from LKQ on ebay for 70 bucks shipped that had both cruise control and steering wheel audio controls. I was going to return the new switch and harness but then thought to hang on to them in case the 2013 parts were different which they were. The switches part numbers between the 2013 and 2015 parts were different along with the wiring harness had different wires. So I don't know that the 2013 parts wouldn't work but I wasn't going to take the chance. I swapped in the new 2015 CC switch, audio switch and wiring harness for the 2013 parts but on the 2013 steering wheel. The 2015 parts went in without issue. Then put the steering wheel on the car and it fit without issue. After this I then had the car programmed at the dealership for 128 bucks. I was told that they needed a card that had numbers on it that was needed for the new program that normally comes with the CC steering wheel GM accessory. I told them that I did not have the card but the parts should work. They told me that they could call and try to get the program itself but there maybe an extra 50-75 dollar charge for the program. Luckily they were able to get the program and with no charge and after the program I now have a fully functioning factory cruise control for only 250 bucks sweet.
