Hey guys!
I bought a pair of Opt7 headlights that have a fan on the back for thermal reasons. And the caps that seal off the headlights no longer fit because the fan sticks out about an 1/4" further than the cap goes. In order to make them fit you have to do some tweaking.
Heres the lights I purchased, they're $100 flat with free shipping. They're rated at 3500 lumens each, 2 year warranty, waterproof, and machined aluminum body with CREE LED lights in them
When I first installed them, I left the caps off, so the inside just had the fans sticking out, but no cap helping to seal anything off.
So I took a measurement of my fan, and it was 1-5/8" was the size of the diameter of the housing for the fan. The bulb assembly sticks out about 1/4" past where the cap would normally sit. I took a 1-7/8" hole saw and cut the holes out of the caps.
After this I had to take a dremel to it and make little notches for the wiring harness at the bottom of the fan, and the wiring harness that powers everything from the car. Once this was done I just threaded those wires through the hole of the cap, and stuck the cap back on the housings like they usually fit. Except now that have a close fitted hole for the fan assembly to get outside air but keeps most dust out and seals better from water.
