I love turbos!

Hi All,
New to the forum. Just purchased my 2012 Sonic LTZ Turbo GTS Blue. Traded my 2005 Cadillac CTS-V in on it. Love the car and cant wait to do some (for now) little modifications.

This makes 3 turbo vehicles I currently own, along with my 1991 GMC Syclone and my 2007 Harley Davidson Softail. I also recently sold a 1992 GMC Typhoon, and parted out my 89 Honda CRX that also had a turbo'd B20Vtec.

The Sonic. Immediate plans are tint, lowering, grill (i hate the mustache bar) and maybe wheels. Future plans will probably be intake exhaust and tune. I want to keep that super-high mpg though so it may stay stock under the hood for a while.

The Syclone. I mostly cruise it, occationally go to the track. Best is 10.58 93 octane with regular street tires. In the same configuration I drive it to Ocean City car shows and even get 20 mpg. Makes about 900hp at the crank currently with a 76mm turbo on a 370ci LS based motor. I built the motor, headers, motor mounts, etc to do the swap myself. I also do all of my own tuning.

And the Harley. I built the turbo kit and am running a gt2052 turbo. Its still in the tuning phase, and really needs more injector before i can get any further. It is rather insane to ride, but it sure gets a lot of looks!

Anyway, just FYI, most of us with an intake tune and exhaust are getting better MPG than stock, if you can keep your foot light on the go fast pedal.

Nice rides! I bet the Harley moves but that pipe straight off the turbo has to get hot on the right thigh. I am getting about the same mileage as stock with more power from the tuning and K&N Conical air filter strapped to the neck of the stock lid.

Thanks guys. I have seen and talked to the guy with that Typhoon, its very nice and that shop was in the process of another one last I saw.

The pipes on the bike arent as close as they would appear, and that ceramic coating helped the heat to where its not an issue. Its definitely a blast to ride and makes everyone around go "what the F! is that ?!

Thats good to hear about the tune exhaust etc. More power usually means the engine is working more efficiently. Like you said its more of a matter of how you drive it. Stock being floored everywhere will get much worse mileage than a tuned up one being driving lightly!

I think the aftermarket for these cars will be huge, looking forward to that!

Its funny too what im used to is so different, the turbo on the Syclone seems a little small to me Then you look at the Sonic!

That is a 76mm ball bearing Turbonetics which will one day be replaced with probably a 96-101mm turbo once I do some aftermarket heads and a bigger cam.

Then, the 76mm goes on my wife's Escalade!

Thanks. Yea i get that sometimes, but it was dollar - per - horsepower that I had in mind. I had run 11.20's with the 6 cylinder, but wanted more.
