Idea for exhaust

As many of you know I have been obsessing over exhaust for quite a while. Now I have a new idea. As you know there is a cut out for the exhaust on the bottom of the bumper. I was thinking that with the correct angle of the pipes you could hide it and with the correct size mufflers this would be possible at the angle shown. It would take a good pipe bender(I know a few) and a lot of patience but im thinking it may be possible. But does anyone have measurements from rear axle to rear bumper? It may be a wild dream but I might try to make it happen.

Best way to get that angle tip look is just to take the car to a local shop and have it mocked up how you want, then welded up. That way you can see the fitment and position before it's final and you will be happy.

Update: I called my main exhaust guy and he asked I bring it by. I think im going to take it to him tomarrow

More or less yes except im working on getting it so car alarms will go off when I hit it. Prolly wont happen but its worth a shot

Idea will not work. There is no room for exhaust pipes or 2nd muffler. Youd have to cut out the spare and reweld it up in there in order to do anything

The look you seek is a performance related mod on cars that typically have Independent Rear Suspension. The idea is to remove an unnecessary bend in the exhaust by going straight under the rear control arm.

Our straight axle Sonics don't have the room, nor would benefit much from removing a bend. #1.4 problems.

Setting off alarms is not that great of an achievement. I set off my neighbor's Yaris if it's parked too close to my driveway, when I'm backing out.

When I was straight-piped, I was setting off alarms every where I went. It sounds like fun, but honestly it gets old and is embarrassing IMO.

Even with three mufflers I set off alarms. Not something I like to do. Draws unwanted attention.

True. Although keep in mind I come from the country. Where I live its kind of bragging rights if your the loudest usually between v8s but you gotta make do with what youve got. I know I know "white trash in loud vehicles" but I like to have fun. Sure people may get pissed but its only for a few seconds a day or so and im gone. And in a few months I wont even be around there anymore. So I want to enjoy my life to the fullest. And if haveing a loud exhaust helps me enjoy my life even more, then im darn well going to do it and I suppose your right about car alarms prehaps that was just a way of expressing how loud I was shooting for

Get MPFab's anaconda and run a 3" straight pipe straight out the side. I think you're inner redneck will be more than happy.

Haha. I will think about it. Im not in a place financially where I can afford that yet. I can only afford a downpipe and a much needed tune which I plan on getting late april. After that I will have to hold off on mods until after im done with college

I had an extra Yosimura S.S. exhaust for my R1 so I installed it. It dumps under the car and has a great sound. Doesn't sound like a bike or ricer. Has a deep deep rumble. Yeah, the drone can be annoying sometimes but I get a lot of compliments on it. They'll ask me what exhaust I'm running and I tell them Yosimura. I've had a few of them not believe me and I'll pull over so they can look up under the car. I just had one of those why not moments while changing the oil. I made a new flange, cut up the s.s. pipe to fit and installed.

"Why not moments" sums up my life haha. I had it dumped right after the mid pipe for quite a while. It was pretty fun. Sonics don't sound like most 4cyl cars
