Is my sonic not a 2012? DDM short shifter install???

I bought a DDM M32 short shifter off of a forum member and went to install it today. Looking at the instructions from DDM's website my factory shifter lever looks very different than what they were showing. When I bought the car I looked up all service records and there was no mention of a swap or work on the transmission. Or am I just looking at the this incorrectly? Here are the pics I took. Yours looks a lot like the '13+ shifter arm.

I've heard of cars over the years getting certain parts from the next model year if they were near the end of production.

And I've heard the reverse, the new model year getting some of the last years parts.

This is going by the 1960s-1980s but I wouldn't be surprised if it's still happening.

Still happens, I've heard of some late '12 Sonics getting the new style (13+) transmission shift setup.

Unfortunately you need the MTech shifter for the 13+ ones.

The 13+ shifter looks so wimpy.. Anybody have it and like it?

I wish I had known to look beforehand. You figure when your car is a 2012 that it would be equipped with those parts. Oh well. I suppose I will sell this one and get the mtech, unless DDM decides to release one.
