After reading up and doing my research I was under the impression that DDMWorks was a stellar vendor, based on what everyone has said. I really liked the heat shield for the intake. The cool logo was also a contributing factor.
I searched around and couldn't find a bad post about them. Never did I think I would be the one to write the first. :sadbanana:
First off, I ordered 1.4 power kit including:
-Trifecta full w/ cable
-intake "custom" painted white (extra $$$)
-intake heat shield
-coil cover "custom" painted white (again, extra $$$)
-shifter bushings
The final bill came to around $800. It took a week or so of prodding Dave for additional information. When he took his time, I got straight, thorough answers within 24 hours. However, I was forced to repeat my self once or twice since he seems to skim the emails a bit too quick. He's busy, I get it. The price you pay for talking to the owner/engineer. That being said, I was ready to order but kept having to delay due to my questions not being answered.
That being said, eventually it was all worked out and I placed my order.
That was back in the end of July.
Dave sent me an email telling me the intakes where backordered, and would be arriving soon. Fair enough. A week later I prodded and he told me that they had finally arrived and would ship out to me next Monday.
Never happened; It took a whole additional week along with poking and prodding before the intake finally arrived at my door.
I couldn't believe it when I saw the quality of the powdercoating.
Powdercoating I had spent an extra $20 on just to get my "custom" color of white.
The intake tube has specs of black here and there. To me this is moderatly annoying, but what really pissed me off was the large blemish on the coil cover. I paid ~80 for a piece of metal whose sole purpose was to improve the looks of my engine bay and I cringe every time I see it.
I have to wonder, what were they thinking when they shipped this to me? "Ahhh, it's just a small spot.....maybe he won't notice......"
Well, I did. So much for quality assurance.
And yet the red powdercoating on the rear brace that I bought from another form member is flawless, sans the contact points. Good to know the one product that is powdercoated correctly is the one I never see.
Oh, and the heat shield was all marred up. Not horrible, you really can't tell when it's installed, but seriously, it looked like no attempt was made to preserve the finish.
On top of this, I have yet to receive my trifecta cable. DDM doesn't even stock them, I guess they have trifecta send them out as needed. I have already had two major trips I've gone on that would have really benefited from having the tune...... I'll admit to not being the most patient guy, but seriously, it's been over a month. I was never warned it would take this long, either.
I wanted to love DDMWorks, but.......:sadbanana:
Now, functionally the products are top notch. Even with a stock tune the intake is pretty awesome and really helped with throttle response. Hearing the turbo is great fun as well. I have nothing but good things to say about the shifter bushings. I also love the rear brace.
Conversely, my experience with ZZP has been nothing but pleasant. Not only did they respond to email much faster (and on the weekend, too) but I had all my questions answered, order placed and received all within one week. They even knocked off $100 so I could afford the turboback.
Proof that I'm not full of it:
