Louder for cheaper?

I'm interested at making my RS louder but I can't drop $$$ on a catback or anything...is there a way to get some more sound out of it for cheap? I heard that removing the muffler and putting a pipe would help but I haven't looked at it yet. Is it welded on or clamped? Thanks

honestly you could do a muffler delete and just pipe it, but some catback options aren't that costly. I myself got one from zzp and you can mess with all the stuff. if you just want to make it louder you can always get the zzp catback and adjust the options to get themuffler delete pipe.

I got a high flow secondary cat, muffler delete, and resonator (I have 1.8 so it is required by them) and I only paid 475 (and that's with shipping)

res. was an additional 80 and the sec. cat was additional 100 so you could be looking at just around 300 something...

also the stock exhaust is all one welded piece, so you would have to cut the muffler off and then either weld or clamp a new piece of pipe on (I would recommend welding for this

idk what your price range is but you could get a e-cutout for 175$
you could place it after the 2nd cat or delete the 2nd cat and place it there wich is how mines it set up.

This is just my opinion but I think when you cut the muffler and just pipe it with a tip it really doesn’t sound that good. If you could I would just save up and see how much a local shop will charge you to make a simple cat back.

Disconnect your exhaust after the cat. Cut the pipe by rear axle and take both sections out. Now you will be running a dumped exhaust after the second cat.

The dumped exhaust after the second cat is pretty loud. I ran mine for a few days like that while I used the flange gasket as a template to make a flange for the home made side exit exhaust.

if your in a no inspection state like florida remove both cat's take a crowbar and jam it in there knock out all the crap (make sure u get all of it), buy new gaskets and reattach. tada louder better flowing exhaust (aka more hp) for nothing more then gaskets and time.

Also even if you dont have state inspections you cant remove the cat legally but if a cop ever inspected your car you still have a cat (its just empty which he wont know). this will likely throw codes which im told you can get by easily.

so I was really curious to see how the dumped exhaust after the 2nd cat would sound and it is loud!! aha I might leave it like this for a couple days just to piss the neighbors off a little. aha

Yea that's true aha but there's 2 sti and a wrx and a focus st in my neighborhood that have louder cars than me
