Misfire on cylinder 2

I am going on vacation and my car started misfiring 600 miles from my destination. My coolant also went down from the last time I checked and when it first started the check engine light flashed and the traction control light came on briefly. I also looked at the live data and the ECT was showing 196ish degrees Fahrenheit, not the usual 212 to 230ish. Plus the Cat temp was higher than normal too, it's usually between 500 and 800 but it was showing as high as 1700ish degrees Fahrenheit. Please help, any information you have with be greatly appreciated

When I had a misfire on my 1.4L it was an ignition coil pack. They are about $100 and can be replaced in about 10 minutes with a single torx screwdriver. That or spark plugs are your main bet. How many miles does your Sonic have on it?

It has 125,419 on it. If it is the coil pack, then why would it use antifreeze? And why would my scanner say the engine was running cooler than normal temps for my car?

I just pulled the coil pack and there was oik/coolant around spark plugs for cylinders 2&3. So it's most likely a blown head gasket.

That's what I was going to suggest next. That is a bummer. You have all the symptoms of said blown head gasket.

Could borrow a compression tester from Autozone to double check.

What is the condition of your oil? Normal oil color and consistency? Not blown head gasket.

The oil in the spark plug holes is caused by a small leak in the valve cover gasket. Which honestly isn’t a huge deal.

If the oil is milky?? Then you have head gasket issues

Well it only cost me around 130 for all the parts to repair it since my uncle is doing it for me. Now I just gotta get it timed and a new exhaust camshaft since he accidentally broke one of the knobs off the end of it.

It was bad. The gasket was split in most places. The exhaust manifold gasket was the same way.

Turns out that my car needs a new engine since cylinder 1 has no compression. The dealer said either it had bent valves or worn rings plus a cracked cylinder head.
