My Sonic is an idiot magnet...

I don't know about all of you, but I swear ever since I got my car, it is a magnet for things to happen to it!

A few months ago, a woman rammed her shopping cart into the passenger's side door. Left a huge dent. Crazy thing was, a friend of mine was in the parking lot driving away as it happened, but couldn't catch her license plate number or anything, but called me later to tell me about it, as I was trying to figure out where the ginormous dent came from. The woman didn't leave a note (of course). Karma!!

I live in a townhouse development and we have a garage and a carport. Kid next to us was working on his scooter. Revved it up and went to put it in reverse and lost control and slid right into my back bumper. Luckily, it did not leave much than a few scratches which were easily buffed out.

There are some other little incidents, like a mennonite woman smacking her suitcase into my passenger's window, and finding the neighbour's cat in my backseat because i left my windows down.

Anyone else have some good stories? I'd love to know I am not alone.

Some fat itch opened her door right into my drivers side mirror. . WHILE WE WERE IN IT. . . Very lucky my boyfriend was driving and he took off before I could get out an say anything. I might have got squished but I was pissed. People just don't have any respect anymore. Someone also rubbed my back bumper with what I'm guessing thier tire mostly in the parking garage at work. Left a few scratches. RUDE!

Wow bummer, I think its a new car thing!!

My truck got run into on the drivers door and frt quater panel with 70mi. Sad thing was dude was driving the wrong way into the parking spots and he can't drive (normal entrance way it would be near imposible to hit anyone)

I caught a curb with this car at 3500mi bc as I was entering a gas station some moron came from the right side. And literally took up 3/4 of the entrance as I was coming in, I went wide thinking I had plenty of entrance room until I got closer and realized that part of what I thought was the ramp was in fact a curb (rough entry way and poor lighting) so I went as close as I could to his truck but still nicked the curb with the corner of my bumber blowing out a large chunk in the process... the parts that really bugged me 1. Huge lot there was no reason he couldn't. Approach the entry exit more directly. 2. He was exiting on the wrong side ( his left which smart ppl exit on their right). 3. They took up 3/4 of the entrance ?!?!? its wide enough for 2 ppl to leave and 1 come in at the same time... I got out to smack some sense into said dude but he drove off, I'm forgiving of accidents but not multiple counts of stupidity.

One of my friends door checked me at an apartment complex after parking super close to me and of course the other spot next to her was empty?!?!?! I then say what would happen and shouted "watch your door". Her response. "Bang" door meets door. Followed by an I'm sorry...

The Sonic is an idot/moron magnet!! :sadbanana: Within 2 weeks of owning my Sonic in March, i had at least 3 different people try to cut me off/sideswipe me not paying attention to the fact there was a car next to them and checking before trying to change lanes. Ive had countless people park so damn close to my sonic that id have to try and squeeze into my car or get out. People not using turn signals, brake late. Pull out in front of me. The worst thing that happened to me thus far with my Sonic was when a week before my vacation from work in June. My Uncle decides while i was over visiting to back his 04 Chevrolet Silverado Right into the Rear end of my Sonic!! Shattering the left tail light and denting and cracking the Rear bumper. Caused $2,716.00 of damage to it ...Lets just say i was NOT happy at that point. Took the body shop 3 weeks to get it put back together. Was the worst vacation ever! I was without my Sonic

yeah, these cars is without doubt a magnet for idiots/morons. Which is why i have this Car Magnet i found and just couldnt resist getting Shown Below in the Pictures. I love my Sonic. But wish people would pay better attention to what they are doing when they are driving. Its like, Ooooo Look, New Car, Lets Hit It!!! They Got Money!

Someone at college today sideswiped my rear driver's side just behind the back wheel. I don't think it's too bad, but now I get to learn how to repaint. Yay. How the hell can morons who can hit a parked car get a license in the first place?

Between that and learning that new cars attract rocks kicked up from trucks like magnets I am never buying new again... :sadbanana:

I park as far away as a can in my parking garage at school people always seen to hit the car next to them with their huge backpacks

or ill take the first parking and park as close to the line so that on my other side there is enough room for the next guy to open his door.... havent had any scratches so far except one on the mirror where I hit a pole...

I do too, but it's so much more overcrowded this year that even the new further back lots fill up every day. There's no escaping the careless jerkoffs anymore.

Just to make sure no one hits my car when im at work i park in over the yellow line of two spots making sure that im dead center of 2 spots so no one on either side is right up close to my car. Every time i would park like a person is suppose to in the spots. I would come out and find some Jackoff Right up next to my door where i had to as they say "Suck It In" to get into my car. I put an end to that by doing this...

lol, i got it at my Local K-Mart Store actually. Was sitting on a spinning rack. I saw it. Laughed, and bought it.

I know how you feel, OP.

I bought a brand new VW Rabbit at the end of '07. I had it for two years and here are the things that happened to it. It was a magnet for crap like yours as well.


- lady backed into it while I was at work. Cracked headlight, grille and some panel damage. 2 months into ownership.

- flattened piece of heatshield was kicked up by a car in another lane and bounced into my bumper at 70 mph.

- Garbage truck damaged my passenger side mirror.

- Railroad gate malfunctioned and fell onto the roof. Story goes that I was sitting at a RR crossing, 4th in line of cars. Lights turned off, street light went green, gates came up, the line started moving. As I was under the gate, it went down, caught my roof rack and broke off. Roof rack did damage my roof requiring repair and repaint.

- Lady backed into me w/o looking as I was maneuvering in a parking.



I sold the car after 2 years and repeated incidents like that. Haven't had anything so weird happen before or after, especially with such frequency.

Fuddie, many have considered it but that paint job of yours takes the fun out of it.

Don't worry, my 02 Elantra looks like I drove passed Rambo while he had the 50 cal fired up.
(My Knight Industries coating stopped the bullets from going through but it has scars. )
