My tip needs polished!

Not what it sounds like. I have a nice chrome exhaust tip and it looks corroded and very dirty. I've wiped it off as best I could, but it still looks awful. Anyone have suggestions for some sort of a chrome polish that could have my tip looking shiny again?

There's a joke about mothers and tip polishing there somewhere.

But yes, Mother's is good stuff. I'm sure you can find it in any auto parts store.

If mothers doesn't work, try any Harley dealer. There bound to have a good chrome polish. You will pay more though. HD stands for hundred dollars not Harley Davidson.

I use Never Dull. It's in a small round can. Has some kind of protect-ant in the wadding as well . I use it on my chrome tip all the time. It removes that nasty stuff the salt puts on it.

I have used that with great results, it even does a great job shining up stock exhaust pipes. The exhaust on mine is looking kinda dull, time to invest in some more I think.

The Mother's aluminum polish has worked out well for me in the past as well.

It has something to due with the sut/carbon from the exhaust. It reacts with moisture and speeds up the rusting process.

I just use whatever auto wax I have around the garage for polishing chrome. Works great.

No they don't all get that way, and no, in that state there is nothing you can do to save it.

Search "stainless exhaust tips" and several links, including the ebay one I posted above, as well as Magnaflow, Jegs, and Summit Racing, are the results. It has to be stainless, that's the key to it not looking like your picture. Yes it will cost more, but at least it will last.

That's too much rust to be from the carbon/moisture. When carbon and moisture cause the rust its usually at the end only. That's just a cheap chrome job.
