New 2012 1.4L Sedan owner!

Hey Everyone!

Just got my new (to me) 2012 sonic a couple of weeks ago after the untimely death of my car (and then another one I was borrowing). I gotta say, it's a really fun car to drive. I have a black sedan with the 6 speed transmission.

After seeing what people have done with their sonics, I will most likely get into some light modding once I graduate in a couple of weeks. So excited

SouthFLSonic: I like what you did with your sonic, looks great! Quick question about the plasti-dip; was it easy to cover up the chrome with it? I'm not a huge fan of the chrome and would like to get rid of it soon.

Eric: I'm about to graduate from the University of Michigan with an Aerospace engineering degree... Now I just need to find an aerospace job...

Thanks, I get quite a few looks because people don't know what kind of car it is because it looks so different from stock. Covering it couldn't have been easier and if you look at my build thread I have pics on how to tape it off that may help. I had issues with the chrome too so I had to eradicate it from my car and Dip did a fine job. If you need any other tips or tricks to working with it PM me and ask away.

Also congrats on graduating soon and finding that job, good to see some fellow Michiganders, I grew up in Lake Orion and was born at Beaumont Hospital.

Yeah, I want to turn all the chrome blue. I think the black base with blue accents would look pretty awesome, looking at some wheels to go with this as well.

I was out of there before high school back in like 1990 but it is one hell of a small world because most people don't even know where Lake Orion is lol.

What color is your car? There have been quite a few members use the chrome trim as a place for accent colors and it looks great just don't go overboard. I will also say that you really don't need a base coat because I had a friend recently do blue w/ and w/o base and the colors are almost the exact same. Just figured I would try and save you some time but a base coat never hurts.

One other thing is try and stay away from the Blaze colors because they fade really fast. I did my wheels in Blaze Orange and came out SOOOOOOOO bright but was faded bad in a week to a dull orange, not a huge problem but just wanted to let you know before hand.

Well hell if the car is black black it all out and get you a Darth Edition sticker

If you did all of the chrome on the entire car I feel it is a little much with an accent color, in black it's fine. If was me I would do the grille surround chrome low beam chrome, not high beam, do the window trim black and do the rear chrome blue also. I am sure I can find a car done up like this if I look so I will post one up when I find it for you.
