Hi everyone. I have been looking around at all the upgrades you guys have been doing. Just awesome. I picked up a hatchback with the 1.8 and auto transmission. I wanted a manual transmission, but the dealer didn't have any in stock, and the car I traded in needed to be replaced ASAP. So I got the hatchback in Mocha Bronze. I plan on upgrading the wheels to 17's or 18's, upgrade the brakes and the suspension, cold air intake, cat back system, a tuner, tint the windows, paint the chrome a bronze to go with the flake in the paint, maybe add some racing stripes, upgrade the speakers, add a 12 inch sub, and a couple of amps. I have the Chevy MyLink system, I kind of like it, so not going to change the stereo. I do have a couple of questions that I have not been able to find with a search.
1. With the rear disc brake conversion from DDK, how often do they need to be replaced? It sounds like there is not a big improvement in stopping, but I like the looks of disks and I am hoping they last longer than a set of shoes for the drum brakes.
2. Those guys that are running the cold air intake, and upgraded exhaust with a tuner, (Like the Trifecta) How is it around smog time. I live in Cali, and I don't want to have to swap a ton of stuff to get it to pass. I am more interested in making the car more efficient than all out horsepower. I drive about 90 miles a day.
3. What is the biggest tire that can fit under our cars with the lower ride height of the Eibach springs. What is the best suspension kit out there for a fun daily driver?
4. Has anybody used one of the sound processors that will allow the addition of aftermarket amps to the MyLink system?
