Newer engine in 2012 sonic

I put a 2017 engine in my 2012 car. I got the engine from a boneyard. Any comparability issues? I’m leaving my original wiring harness and controller and keeping my intake and injectors. Anyone else done something similar? Original engine developed rod knock.

If it's from a Sonic, not a Cruze, you should be fine. Cruze went to the Gen 2 1.4T (direct injected) in 2016 which isn't directly compatible with the E78 and 1.4T (port injected) the Sonic uses.
