Possible shift knob option?

Been looking for aftermarket manual shift knob options for the 6sp. There really doesn't seem to be any available for the sonic other than doing a DIY. Product states that it's for the Cruze but a lot of things seem somewhat interchangeable between the sonic and cruze.

Anyway...sorry if this is a repost, my searches didn't yield a result with this item.

Thoughts? I dig em, other than what looks to be their logo on the shift pattern. Is it even doable?

Ah.. Just realized two things. Link isnt workin (I'll fix it, just missing a letter) and its 5sp...maybe the shift pattern plate can be swapped out.

Ok so I fixed the original link. With a quick search I found these 6 speed decals to go in place of the 5sp pattern.

The overall cost seems pretty cheap. I guess when I have a couple bucks Ill give it a go and post my results.

I've been having a devil of a time trying to replace my manual shift knob. I'm taking it over my Chevy guru tomorrow to see if he can figure it out cos I'm at a loss. Maybe I'll just need to get a hack saw, although i was promised my sickspeed one would work.

I'll bet they'd promise it'd work even better if they had a 7-day money back guarantee vs a 14-day money back guarantee ;)

But if you find out if anything is a straight swap, I'd be interested!

From what I understand, when it comes to taking the factory knob off, it's a lot of force and a lot of patience. I think i read that this is your best friend strap tool. Apparently you just rip it off...no threads or screws of any kind

Price changes often?

Not sure why but the price on the knob I linked has rotating price. When I first found it, it was at 28 bucks. I checked i earlier and it was 56 or 57 bucks, it 's back to 28. That's strange.....

well my chevy guru guy says there should be t torx screw on the top but i've popped the shift icon and there's nothing there i can find. the search goes on.

Like I said... I'm pretty sure you just rip the sucker off. The strap tool I linked should help with that. Good luck.. I'll be doing it myself hopefully in the near future.

maybe I'll pick up one of those as guys way stronger than me have tried to get the damn thing off with no luck. I would have NEVER thought it would have been such an ordeal to get the knob off else i'd have not undertaken the journey, but now that I'm on the road, oh i have to get there.

EDIT: i picked up a strap wrench and spoke with GM herself after the dealership said they couldn't help. No luck with the wrench although maybe I'm just not giving enough pressure. As far as GM goes, they said go to a dealership. I was like... yeah about that.... so they said you should try a diff dealership, my response... yeah great minds think alike.... in the end I found a vid of a guy taking one off a cruze that looks nearly identical but they did a cutaway when they were removing it so no real help to me.

Dang. Well I still am not going to be able to try this myself for a little while. But all of my info came from research on here, SOF. But from what I understand you have to go slow and not in yanking motions. And everyone that has tried with the strap has had luck. Sorry it's been so difficult brother.

no worries and I appreciate the help. I'm getting close to just dremiling the damn thing off if i can't get it as I don't care about resale. This is my baby till it can't run anymore, lol. though I'd rather keep it intact.

my buddies at the dealership actually dremeled the hell out of the original. It's got a ton of steel in it. I'll post a pic of the aftermath, it's just horrible looking. We all tried to just pry it off but in the end, everything bows to the Dremil.

Does anyone know if the Cruz knob will fit the sonic? It looks like it might be a little better quality than the POS sonic one.
