I also installed the VVT modifed stock turbo. Went from 190 hp to 206 hp, both according to the OBDII, still haven't done any dyno work. BUT in theory I could have 220 hp, problem is at 206 I hit valve float. Until I get new valves or at least valve springs (probably just the springs will do it) that's the limit of my Sonic's power output.
I imagine the same will be true of full replacement turbo; if the valve springs can't handle the pressure then that's all the good you can get out of the system, right?
Or to put it another way, "you are the weakest link, goodbye."
