does anyone know what the slot below my radio is for? i looked all over the place and everything seems to skip it, i assume it may be a release for trim as its not large enough to fit much of anything in it.

The slot hold credit card sized cards, including cards some people use for some electronic gates.

You put your ATM card in there and the radio changes to 'ATM mode' and dispenses cash.
